NeedMeA helps people create, privately track and progress real-world service requests toward suitable help.
What we collect
When you submit a request, contact us, register as a provider, or claim a business profile, we may collect information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, postcode or service area, account credentials, business details, ownership-verification information, and the description of your request. Passwords are handled by WordPress as secure password hashes; NeedMeA administrators cannot read your password.
Public business profiles
NeedMeA may compile factual business information that is already publicly available from a business’s own website or other appropriate public sources. Unclaimed profiles are labelled as unclaimed and include source information where practical. A claimed profile means NeedMeA approved an ownership request; it is not an endorsement, licence guarantee, quality guarantee or availability guarantee.
Request tracking accounts
When you submit a consumer request, NeedMeA may create a private tracking account for the email address you provide so you can return to see that request and its recorded progress. A first-time requester may be signed in on the submitting device and can set a password directly from the private tracker. Returning users must sign in before private request details are shown.
Email updates
If you separately choose to join the NeedMeA newsletter, we use the email address and optional name you provide to send NeedMeA updates through our email delivery service. Newsletter consent is separate from submitting a request, contacting us or registering as a provider. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or contact NeedMeA.
Why we collect it
We use this information to operate NeedMeA, create and track requests, support relevant provider matching, respond to enquiries, improve the service, and verify business-profile ownership.
How provider routing works
When NeedMeA identifies a suitable service and area match, a limited version of a request with direct contact details removed may appear in the private inbox of eligible approved providers. Consumer email and phone are withheld. A routed request is not a booking, quote, guarantee of provider availability or service contract.
How information is handled
We take reasonable steps to protect information we hold and limit access to people and systems that need it for legitimate product and operational purposes. Private consumer requests are shown to the account attached to them and authorised NeedMeA administrators. Where provider-inbox routing is enabled, a sanitised version containing the request description, service type, postcode and timing may also be shown to eligible approved provider accounts. Consumer email and phone are withheld from that provider view. We do not intentionally publish private request details or private business-claim evidence. Approved business owners may manage selected public profile fields.
Third-party services
NeedMeA may use hosting, analytics, communications and operational service providers to run the platform. Where a third-party service processes personal information for NeedMeA, we aim to limit the information shared to what is reasonably required for that purpose.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or delete information you have submitted, subject to any legal or operational requirement to retain it. Use the Contact page to make a privacy request.
